San Miniato is situated in the heart of Tuscany between Florence and Pisa, in a hilly area 150 meters above sea level. Because of its elevation it was known for its strategic position in the medieval period. Moreover, it was a city with a tradition of art and creative excellence. Many famous people were born here, Matilde di Canossa, Francesco Sforza and the Duke of Milan to name a few. It's imposing castle hosted the Emperor Federico Barbarossa. The city boasts a well preserved heritage; the Via Angelica, the Lawn of the Cathedral to the Tower of Frederick II. The food and wine of the area is of the highest standard and fills the local markets. Perhaps one of the biggest attractions is the event "National White Truffle Market Exhibition".
